The total number of full time faculty - 24 employees, including: 21 research-and-academic staff, of which  5  professors, 2 doctors of science, 13 assistant professors, candidates in TechSciD.

Our team – research-and-academic staff  of the  Department of Merchandising in Customs Affairs

RTD activities of Department

Research work of academic-and-educational staff of the Department is an integral part of the research educational activities and the organic component of the research work of the University. This work is carried out in accordance with the Concept of the Scientific-and-Educational Activity of the University, perspective and current plans of research works, in certain scientific areas of RTD of KSUFTT.

The research work on Department focuses on fundamental and applied research with a focus on developing ways to preserve food quality during processing, expertise of goods and other relevant aspects of the national and international level.

Scientific researches are based on the integration of science, education and business practices.

Main RTD areas of the Department:

  • study and development of new food products for special purposes, the study of their quality and the conditions of their movement across the customs border;
  • scientific basis for the creation and study of combined protein products for food mass, therapeutic and preventive nutrition, based on new types of animal protein and vegetable origin and uniqueness of coding on code of UCGFEA (УKTВЭD)*;
  • development of recommendations to improve the packaging markings that industrial (non-food) products as they move through the customs border;
  • theoretical and practical aspects of improving the quality characteristics of industrial (non-food) goods;
  • scientific basis for improving the quality of foodstuffs and industrial (non-food) products with a porous structure;
  • theoretical and practical aspects of aquatic freshwater reservoirs in Ukraine;
  • theoretical and practical aspects of improving the quality of food products from fruit and vegetables;
  • other specialized research.

*Note: UCGFEA (УKTВЭD)  – Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity, specially designed for foreign trade, and which was made on the basis of the Harmonized System (HS) of   description and coding of the goods of The  World Customs Organization (WCO).

Scientific schools at the Department

At the Department functions one scientific school: Scientific school The Scientific Substantiation and Development of Advanced Technology Products of Therapeutic and Prophylactic Purposes (Scientific Supervisor of the Scientific school – Dr. Mykola Golovko, TechSciD, Prof., Head of the Department).

Within this Scientific school already has defended 7 candidate theses and currently executes  more 6 master's theses. In the total volume at the Department for the period 2005-2014 was developped more than 30 research themes.

International RTD activities

Research-and-educational staff of the Department during the past 5 years, has actively participated in international scientific conferences, international fairs and exhibitions, competitions and other similar events, including how to study the possibility of participation in the European Framework Program (RP) Science and Technology development, in particular in FP7 (2007-2014), and preparing specific research proposals in the framework of competitions announced by the European Commission, for example:

In 2007, within the contest of announced by the European Commission (EC)  Call for Proposal KBBE-2007-2-3-02 «Evaluation and improvement of existing food and feed technologies» Directions «Cooperation», Theme 2 «Food, agriculture and biotechnology» Activity 2.2: Fork to farm: Food including seafood), health and well being, Area 2.2.1 Consumers, Department has explored the possibility of searching specialized European research consortia and submission   a project proposals concerning  the readiness of their participation in such FP7 research consortia.

Currently departments of Faculty spends much organizational work on searching for profile consortia within WP-Food 2016-2017 of the  Sub-priority  Food Security Priority area  Societal Challenges  2 EU Program Horizon 2020 (2014-2020)    first of all  – in area of food quality & safety, food processing, experise of goods and in others relevant research areas.

Basic expertises and RTD carried out by the Department  for project customers

Specific profile scientific research & technology development (RTD) and industry sectoral expertises that  the Department of Merchandising in Customs Affairs of the Faculty of Merchandising and Trading Entrepreneurship of KSUFTT can actually performs in the case of address to him with such request possible European project consortium within the Horizon 2020 Programme:

  • Expertise of the quality of food combined protein products based on new types of animal protein and vegetable.
  • Expertise of the package is the labeling of food products and industrial (non-food) products as they move through the customs border.
  • Expertise unambiguous foodstuffs and industrial (non-food) goods code UKTVED.
  • Expertise of the quality of foodstuffs and industrial (non-food) products with a porous structure.
  • Expertise of the quality of products from fruits and vegetables.
  • Expertise of the quality of dairy products.
  • Expertise of the quality of meat products.
  • Customs Expertise of foods.
  • Customs Expertise of industrial (non-food) goods.

Department is also ready to perform a core part of the project profile works and to carry out research expertise on topics proposed by the European coordinator of the project consortium.

Laboratory facilities of the Department

Department has two equipped research-and-training laboratories, which ensures optimum conditions for RTD of any complexity:

  • Laboratory  of Physical-and-Mechanical Studies of Goods.
  • Laboratory of Customs Expertise.

The main areas of RTD works of laboratories – carry out expertise of the quality of food, non-food products and semi-finished products.

Scientific achievements

The novelty of the scientific research of the Department was confirmed more than 50 patents and regulations. Scientific-and-research staff of the Department participated in 15 exhibitions, on which was presented 26 exhibits, as well as 60 conferences, symposia and workshops of international, national and other levels.

Much attention at the Department is also paid to scientific publishing activity, namely:
Was published 12 monographs, 18 study guide. Department staff received 54 patents, approved 7 packages of regulatory documents (TS – Technical Specifications, TI – Technical 5Instructions). Scientists of the Department participated in 9 scientific-and-practical conferences, different levels, including 59 – international.

Researchers of  the Department of Merchandising in Customs Affairs  Dr. Mykola Golovko, TechSciD, Prof. and graduate student Ganna Gelikh in time of accomplishing their RTD work on theme The Definition of Color Characteristics of Products from Hydrobionts with using modern equipment with the relevant specialized software at the Laboratory of Physical-and-Mechanical Studies of Goods.
